    In the UK ‘Layoff’ means that you got fired – I’m assuming you’re on a sabbatical?

    Thanks, mate! To be honest, I actually looked that word up because I wasn’t sure. Here’s what it said:

    • a discharge, esp. temporary, of a worker or workers.
    • a period when this is in force.
